Introduction of 316H Stainless Steel
316H stainless steel is a type of austenitic stainless steel with
the UNS number S31609. It is standardized under AISI and ASTM
specifications and is known for its enhanced properties compared to
standard 316H Stainless Steel .
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of 316H Stainless Steel includes:

●Molybdenum (Mo): 2.0~3.0

1.High Temperature Strength: The higher carbon content in 316H
provides improved strength at elevated temperatures, making it

2.Corrosion Resistance: Like other 316 grades, 316H offers excellent
resistance to corrosion, particularly in environments with
chlorides, making it suitable for marine and chemical processing
applications.
3.Weldability: It possesses good welding properties and can be welded
using various standard welding methods. However, due to its higher
carbon content, it may require post-weld heat treatment to avoid
sensitization and intergranular corrosion.
4.Austenitic Structure: The austenitic structure of 316H Stainless Steel grants it excellent toughness, even at low temperatures.

Comparison with 316 and 316L
316H has a higher carbon content compared to 316 and 316L, which
enhances its high-temperature strength. However, this also means it
is more susceptible to sensitization during welding. 316L, with its
lower carbon content, offers better resistance to intergranular
corrosion but may not perform as well in high-temperature
applications.
